- Athletic footwear volume was up above 21% in 2021 over 2019 and active apparel volume was up more than 25%. Apparel wasn’t the only category seeing this lift, outdoor equipment gear was also up. Kayak sales grew by almost 30%, backpacking tents up by almost 50% and sleeping bags up by 28%.
